Kind Words
"Dr. Schaefer has cared for both our Bulldogs over the past 5 years. Her kindness, knowledge, and compassion are readily apparent in her gentle way with animals and their humans. She employs a holistic approach to veterinary care that is a refreshing alternative to the one size fits all vet care found in most vet clinics. She provided acupuncture for our first dog Hank, and was able to substantially decrease his pain, improve his ability to get around, as well as improve his emotional/mental well being. What made working with Dr. Schaefer even easier for both us and our dogs was that she comes to you and does treatments and renders care in our own home. This made things much easier and less stressful, especially with a stubborn, old dog that disliked going in to the clinic. You will not find a more passionate or caring vet to care for your animals." “You gave us back our dog. After having numerous diagnostic tests, including an MRI, and still no diagnosis and no resolution or even lessening of our dog’s sudden onset of insomnia, nightly agitation and barking, refusal to go outside, and extreme anxiety, we were deep in grief not knowing what else to do. He seemed to be in a daze and was worsening during the months of testing. Then Dr. Schaefer came to our home to examine Putter. She took an extensive history of his health throughout his life. Dr. Schaefer prescribed a Chinese herbal formula and within two weeks, we had our Putter back! We both thank you so much!” Jean and Jim H., Beaverton, OR, 08/2009.
"Your reaction to our 2 feral young cats, a 13 year old cat and a 6 year old German Shepard…all in one room was really affirming to the care and love we provide. How you addressed the animals was with patience and understanding without any words or tricks. Your questions were thoughtful, honest and reflective. Your approach to holistic pet care is refreshing and real. By your guidance, our animals no longer need main-stream care – the food and supplements we feed them have kept them out of veterinary offices for years (aside from a wellness visit with you). Not only have you guided me, but you have also educated me to be a better advocate for the animals I care for. I (we) are forever grateful and appreciate all you have done for our family of humans and fur. I am grateful to be one of those lucky enough to cross your path. In appreciation and gratitude," Tayna W., North Plains, OR, 9/2010
"I meant to give you an update on Chase since your visit. Since you adjusted his pelvis, we’ve got the old Chase back. Prior to the adjustment he was rarely getting on the bed with us at bedtime. And if he did, he wouldn’t stay long. Now, after the adjustment, he gets on the bed at bedtime and usually doesn’t get off until we get up in the morning. It’s wonderful getting our snuggle puppy back! Thanks again!" Curt S., Hillsboro, OR, 1/2012
"Thought you'd be interested in knowing, when we were leaving the park today (we had already been there over 30 minutes, I had to make Chuck head back.), I could get neither Sofie nor Chuck into the car. Chuck kept wanting to go further. Then 2 other dogs showed up and Chuck and Sofie both were both trying to socialize with them. Finally I got them into the car! They wore me out!! He's also wanting to eat like a pig! He [Chuck] did that when Nettie was here, then dropped 25-30 lbs. after she left. I'm having to seriously watch his intake! I told Dewey, I think we created a monster!! I am thrilled, however. Thanks so much!" 8/2012, Renee A., Sherwood, OR
"I wanted to let you know that with the herbs you prescribed, Lily hasn't even BEGUN her summertime itching and chewing. You're the bomb." Nancy W., Seatac, WA, 8/17/2013
"My Sincere Gratitude. I finally made it home yesterday and it is extremely difficult to be here. But it did make it a little easier to read your kind words. You are an amazing vet and your compassion shines through your work. I have a lot of respect for you and what you do. I am eternally grateful to you for making Alberta's transition beautiful and with ease." Lisa S., NE Portland, OR, 6/2014
"My senior dog still loves to rough house with our large two-year old Chesapeake retriever. But he has arthritis in his low back. Then he had difficulty bending his front legs and started hesitating going down steps. After one functional integration session at our home, he's amazing! He's all loosey-goosey! My husband says he's 'smiling' now when he goes on walks! Thank you! Lori K, 3/9/2017
