Cydria Manette Schaefer, DVM, CVA, MEd
In the mid-1980's I began making food for my dogs and studying and using homeopathy and herbs to treat the dogs and horses in my care. At the same time, I was a co-facilitator of Tellington Equine Awareness Method clinics in Washington and a regular writer of book reviews for a Seattle based journal, Holistic Animal News. I grew up primarily with dogs and have always had an avid fondness for horses. Learning to ride horses when I was six years old, I have been schooling them (behavioral rehabilitation, starting them under saddle) and giving riding lessons (focus: Centered Riding, dressage, eventing) since my teens. I also have cared for sheep (including spinning their wool), and goats (including milking them and making cheeses). After graduating from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine, I worked in allopathic and emergency clinics treating a variety of animal species. While being employed at two integrative/holistic veterinary clinics, I decided to have my own mobile practice. An advanced Feldenkrais practitioner, I studied with Mia Segal, Moshe Feldenkrais's first and longest student Mind Body Studies practitioner and incorporate this wonderful work in the manual therapy I do for animals.
